SAN ANTONIO (August 24, 2008) –
Wish Kid Olivia’s wish “to have a Quinceanera”
will be granted at the Annual
Quinceañera Expo taking place on Sunday, August 24,
2008 at the Red Oak Ballroom, noon
– 6 p.m. This popular yearly pilmigrage attracts
more than 2,000 attendees and 30
exhibitors.
Cancer survivor Olivia will be
granted an all-expense paid Quinceañera, courtesy of
many supportive vendors and
businesses present at the Expo. Olivia’s unwavering
strength and inspirational story
will be shared during the event’s program at 12:30
p.m.
San Antonio's very own Fairy
Godmother, Priscilla Mora, played a key role in
securing
the sponsors to grant Olivia’s
wish. Olivia’s wish is being granted through
collaboration
with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of
Central & South Texas. Her dream quinceanera
will take place on Jan. 31, 2009.
Priscilla’s Advice is donating planning services for
a
full-scale event; Red Oak Ballroom
is donating the rental of its facility; Cakes & More
by
Cynthia Gallagher is donating the
cake; Seventh Heaven Bakery is donating favor
cookies; Loco Motion Flipbooks is
donating party favors; Mori Lee is donating the
gown;
Gabby Kelly from Arbonne
International is providing free make-up; and others
will be
contributing music, food, and
invitations.
“Olivia’s tenacity and positive
attitude have inspired so many people that have
learned of
her story,” said Priscilla Mora,
Quinceañera Expo Director. “We are truly blessed to
have
met her through the Make-A-Wish
Foundation, and are both honored and humbled to
help make her wish of a
princess-like Quinceañera a reality.”
The Expo will feature a wide array
of specialists that serve the Quinceañera and Sweet
Sixteen industries. Exhibits
include catering, make-up, cakes, DJs, invitations,
décor, a
fashion show and a free movie
screening of "Alondra Smiles” to the first 200
attendees.
The coming of age story will be
shown at 6 p.m., and focuses on the main character –
a
Quinceañera.
